摘要：The pictorial portrayals of Thebais were common during the Modern Age. However, we find very few images that show hermit activities with different habits and from different places. Thus the importance of the XVIII th century picture subject of this paper, that depicts religious forms associated to cave life which had a long tradition on the site of La Luz in Murcia. We study the locus amoenus which is symbolic but inspired on a real environment of hermit inhabited caves, whose practices were regulated by the prelate of the Diocese of Cartagena, as proven by an inscription and by historic records. We look at the uniqueness of the picture and relate it to historic and literary sources on the subject.
