摘要:This work attests the importance of the role that missionaries played in Postridentine Europe. The author studies the rethorical and theatrical aspects of their labour with which the missionaries tried to persuade the people, remarking that these expressions and methods were linked with other expressions of the Baroque Culture. On the other hand, popular missions were one of the principal tools to spread a devout model of life to the wider population. This new practice was sustained by the congregations founded by the Jesuits and Capucins in the villages, that encouraged particular devotional practices and a new kind of religious motives which are typical of the Postridentine period.
