摘要：User has been included in the research in information retrieval, and this factor has implied a new research approach. This perspective is focused on new issues related to searching process, such as formulation of queries, interaction between user and system, evaluation of the results obtained and influence of some personal characteristics. This exploratory paper examines 25 original research works of the user-centered perspective. A classification of the variables according to the following categories has been established: user characteristics, searching environment and process, and results. The coincidence in data collecting techniques, analysis methods and variables has served for checking the similarity between the research works analysed. Finally, a graphical representation of the different trends observed in these works is presented.
