摘要:This article stresses the relationship between the evolution of the Visigothic kingdom and changes in the Western Mediterranean around the year 100 as the conflict between the empire and the caliphate evolved. The Visigothic kingdom experienced some rapprochement with the eastern empire during the reign of Erwig. The Arab attack took place against King Roderick, the rival of the royal family of Witiza and his descendants, but there are some doubts as to this family's direct involvement. The internal struggle for power and sources relating to Roderick's accession are also considered.
