摘要：The author analyzes the opening and closing lines that set the boundaries in prose storytelling, as well as the different functions of these lines and the way traditional storytellers use them. The presence of these lines is cross-cultural, yet the author discusses here the case of the Spanish and Italian folk tales only, with additional references to other cultural contexts, mostly European.
