摘要:For migrant and diasporic communities, the desire for and consumption of familiar foods acts as an “intimate frontier” (Ann Stoler, 2001) between self and other, which produce particular gendered, racialized and classed subjectivities and incorporate nostalgic and nationalist discourses into the body. This paper looks at the affective state of “nostalgia” in ethnographic accounts of diasporic foodways and argues that the profound relationship between quotidian food practices and social action is only accessible through the ethnographies which privilege affect and the semiotics of the senses.
