摘要:The illicit trade of cultural property is a relentless force that concerns many of those interested in World Heritage. This illicit and legal trade of antiquities creates a demand for cultural property objects. In the archaeological context, the procurement of resources to meet this demand requires the looting of many archaeological sites. This paper addresses Canada’s connection to the illicit and licit trade of antiquities, including an overview of Canadian and international law pertaining to Cultural Property. Canada’s role in this illicit international trade will be identified with the use of two case studies on Peruvian and Israeli artifacts that are being sold in Canadian markets today.
