摘要:The article examines the dilemma between two traditional approaches to the study of music theory by discussing Carl Dahlhaus’s dual proposition, the presentist and the historicist which have polarized the field. After describing the main tenets of each one, the author uses Hans-George Gadamer’s hermeneutics to show that the very tension created by the apparently antagonistic approaches furninshes the tools for the understading and praxis of the discipline.
