  • 摘要:The hot summer is drawing to its end in the North. Heat means an increased risk to human health. A recent European study reported that minimum mortality rates are observed at well-defined environmental temperatures that are characteristic of each country. These temperatures reflect the general climate of the country concerned, and are lower in those countries with colder climates. Mortality clearly increases at sites that are typically colder, or warmer than the minimum mortality temperature. Cold climate belongs to the nature of the Arctic. This Journal has published numerous articles dealing with health risks of cold climates. In contrast, the effects of hot periods in the Arctic on health have received little attention from the medical community.(Int J Circumpolar Health 2003; 62(3):222-222)
