摘要：O estudo tem por objetivo identificar a pertinência ou não da aplicação dos conceitos de pânico moral e de demônio popular (folk devil) como forma de compreender a recente adesão eufórica à política de Segurança Pública no estado do Rio de Janeiro.Com a aplicação desses conceitos, oriundos da sociologia e da criminologia, em especial de Stanley Cohen (1972), analisam-se as estruturas narrativas de duas coberturas policiais de jornais cariocas.Concluiu-se que o traficante aparece como elemento desviante enquanto os policiais são apresentados como heróis dentro de um processo de elaboração de uma euforia legitimadora da política de Segurança.O artigo faz parte de uma pesquisa em andamento que tem por principal hipótese a ideia de que os jornais incentivaram a ocorrência do fenômeno do pânico moral na cidade em 2010, quando as ocupações policiais foram intensificadas.
其他摘要：This study’s pourpose aims to identify the relevance or not relevance of the application of the concepts of moral panic and folk devil as a manner of understanding the recent euphoric adherence of the Public Security policy in the state of Rio de Janeiro. With the application of these concepts derived from sociology and criminology, in particular from Stanley Cohen (1972), the authors analyze the narrative structures of two police coverage in Rio‘s newspapers during the drug war. They concluded that the drug dealers appear as the deviant element while the police forces appear as heroes, legitimizing Public Security policy through euphoria. The article is part of an ongoing research in which the main hypothesis is the idea that the newspapers encouraged the occurrence of the phenomenon of moral panic in the city in the end of 2010, when the police raids became intensified.
