摘要：This article presents the relationship among information, information technology (IT) and archives. Presents archives classification and functions. It identifies the obstacles and difficulties to retrieve information in archives of UNIMED´S North/Northeast. Sets Electonic Document Management (EDM) and shows that EDM is the key to solving the problem. Join the stages of implementation of EDM, presents the main features of Laserfiche software and hierarchies of use. Uses as an instrument for data collection a questionnaire and concludes presenting as result the employees satisfaction with organization, decrease of documental files (paper) and easy to retrieve information after EDM implementation. Highlights the experience of this pioneering work and suggests using it as a model project for deployment of ECM in archives.
