摘要：Discusses the impact of automation in technical and administrative routines of university libraries, observing the changes after the implementation of equipment through a case study in the Faculty of Greater Metropolitan Fortaleza - Fametro. Is exploratory and broke a literature / documentation and field research, conducting structured interviews, and how to use the systematic observation techniques for data collection, working under the functionalist perspective. Regarding the results of the library automation studied, there were several changes, among which we highlight: greater control of activities by the librarian about the routines and processes, generation of more reliable information for decision making, the promotion and creation services; increased subsidies for service planning and activities. As for the collections management software, despite its shortcomings, it was considered appropriate because supplies the majority of the needs of the locus of the research library.
