摘要：This issue of ARAL introduces two new elements: an Obituary and a Professional Practice section.The obituary for Professor Wilga Rivers is written by Michael Clyne and Wallace Kirsop. Wilga Rivers remains Australia’s most outstanding applied linguist. Her long and amazingly productive professional life was divided between Australia and America.Her influence spans nearly forty years during which Applied Linguistics matured, expanded and diversified as a discipline. Wilga Rivers’ contribution to Applied Linguistics and language teaching runs through this period like a spine. We remember her with deep respect and affection.
