摘要：Aquaerobics’ popularity gets considerably high among elderly people. This research analyzed why elderly people start this activity by investigating 43 individuals in Piracicaba (Brazil) and 29 in Fort Collins (United States). The participants’ profile was analyzed according to percentage of incidence and to answers for the question “Why did you start practicing Aquaerobics?” through proposed of Moreira, Simões e Porto (2005) for the Content Analysis: Elaboration Technique and Analysis of Meaning Uni ts. In Pi racicaba, 58% star ted Aquaerobics because doctor ordered, whereas, in Fort Collins, 76% aimed keeping fit. Contrasting results are linked to conditions and advertising of public programs offered to this group.
