摘要:The study's aim is to describe and analyze the talent selection and detection process considering the identitary representations and daily practices of soccer. It uses as instrument half structured interviews, applied to coaches and coordinators of U-15, U-17 and U-20 categories, and technical observers in seven clubs of Brazilian soccer First Division. It concludes that the identitary discourse on the proclaimed ideal of Brazilian soccer, the art soccer, does not guide the actions of the involved professionals in the talent selection and training process. Nevertheless, this discourse may present symbolic effectiveness in the player’s commercialization process.
