摘要：The media is an important mediator of historical, social and cultural relationships, establishing and revealing realities. Considering the importance of professional soccer and if its players, and more specifically, the relevance of Ronaldo in the national sports scene, the objective of this study was to investigate how the end of the career of this athlete was pictured in two sports digital media, the Lancenet and the Globoesporte.com. We conducted a qualitative analysis using the approach of the History of the Present, and concluded that both periodicals mythicized the athete`s career and contributed to the consolidation of his image as a soccer idol.
