摘要：the purpose of this study is to reconsruct the way in which the historian edward P. thompson conducted his work of historical investigation, based on an analysis of the works A miséria da teoria ou um planetário de erros [ The poverty of Theory -1978 ] and A formação da classe operária inglesa [ the making of the English Working Class - 1963 ]. It seeks o establish a didatic relationship between some theoretical-methodological premisses presented by the author in the first work and materialization of these concepts in the detailed process of investigation carried out by the author in A formação da classe operária inglesa - one of his principal historical research works.
