摘要：The present paper tries to articulate the reflections on the representations of nature and environment by intellectuals of different disciplinary traditions, culminating with an empirical inquiry, centered on the structural aspect of the social representations, in other words, on their central nucleum. The 630 social actors who were interviewed were classified as members of different social groups: natives from Florianópolis, tourists and tourist agents of tourism in the Island of Santa Catarina. The outcome, obtained through the technique of free association of words (ABRIC, 1998), was analysed with the program Evoc (VERGES, 1999) and suggests a naturalistic representation ofthe environment by part of all three groups and a strong concern with the preservation of nature, mainly from native inhabitants.
