摘要：Berço cultural de Sergipe, a cidade de Laranjeiras conhecida como a “Atenas sergipana”, onde se mantêm uma forte cultura imaterial e material, enfrenta os desafios dos tempos atuais. A instalação de um campus da UFS, promovendo a restauração do antigo Quarteirão dos Trapiches através do Projeto Monumenta (IPHAN), desencadeou algumas tensões na população local que tem questionado as vantagens e desvantagens da moradia numa cidade-patrimônio. O registro de vozes comuns de moradores, porém protagonistas do espaço e tempo vivenciado, através de entrevistas, busca sua incorporação cidadã à instituição educacional que se dispõe a servir ao social e valorizar sua gente.
