标题:A Cross-Sectional Study on Evaluating the Reliability of Commercial Home Glucose Monitoring Kits and KAP (Knowledge, Attitude and Practices) of Non-Medical Technologist Users
摘要:This preliminary study is divided into two phases. The first phase is to determine the reliability of the home glucose monitoring kits in relation to the control in terms of specificity, sensitivity, predictive values, efficiency, accuracy and precision. Results indicate variations in different facets of reliability of the said kits. Moreover, it is also inferred that the blood glucose values obtained using the control method is significantly different from that of the three home glucose monitoring kits. Thus, putting in question the reliability of the blood glucose values obtained from the rapid methods. The 2nd phase of the study is to determine the differences in the knowledge, attitude and practices (KAP) of medical technologists and non medical technologists users of the home glucose monitoring kits. Findings indicate differences in some items of the KAP. Thus, standardization of the protocol should be advocated to minimize the pre- and postanalytical variables that may inadvertently compromise the reliability of the values obtained using the rapid home glucose monitoring kits. Keywords: Knowledge, Attitude and Practices (KAP); home glucose monitoring kits
