摘要:This preliminary study is a descriptive research designed to determine the extent of climate change knowledge, attitude and practices (KAP) of EAC community. A researcher-made survey questionnaire was constructed and validated to assess the extent of KAP of EAC community – students, employees and faculty. Stratified random sampling method was used in selecting representative samples of respondents. Data from the survey were collected and analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 15. Descriptive frequencies were obtained and any statistical differences demonstrated by chi-square analysis.Data gathered from a total of 482 respondents consisting of 380 students (79%), 71 employees (15%), and 31 faculty (6%) yielded to varying results of the levels of knowledge, attitude and practices vis-a-vis climate change mitigation and adaptation. The level of KAP were measured as high, moderate and low forming 27 group combinations ranging from high knowledge, high attitude, and high practice (HKHAHP) to low knowledge, low attitude and low practice (LKLALP).The results highlighted dominant responses to indicate the extent of climate change KAP of the respondents: students – MKHAHP (21.99%), employees – MKHAHP (4.36%), and faculty – MKHAHP (2.49%). Furthermore, these results have signified the strengths and areas for improvement of the respondents KAP with regards to climate change mitigation and adaptation. Keywords: Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC); climate change; Statistical Package for the Social Sciences(SPSS)
