摘要：This article refers to the problem of the foundation of the Hispanic republics from the debate which took place in Chile towards the middle of the XIX century, concerning the literature question. It is argued that the views on literary emancipation from the old continent constitute a significant expression of the complex process of imagination and the creation of the national, as well as including the unifying condition which contributed to the nation-building process.
