摘要：WERSIG systematisiert in seiner Einführung das Feld der Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien anhand technischer Kriterien auf nachvollziehbare und übersichtliche Weise. Von seiner Darstellung ausgehend wird in diesem Beitrag nach der sozialen Einbettung der Technologien, insbesondere nach ihrer Raumwirksamkeit gefragt. Entgegen dem beispielsweise in der Internetforschung verbreiteten Topos der "Raumlosigkeit" wird gezeigt, dass der "Cyberspace" durchaus Rückbindung an und Einfluss auf den realen Raum hat. Neu entstehende Zentrum-Peripherie-Strukturen, räumliche Ordnungsvorstellungen und raumbezogene Informations- und Kommunikationsangebote sind Beispiele dafür, dass die räumlichen Auswirkungen von Technologien differenziert betrachtet werden müssen. 其他摘要：The reviewed book is a systematic and well-written introduction to the field of information and communication technologies. Starting from WERSIG's focus on technical aspects, this paper concentrates on one dimension of the social context of technology: its influence on space. Issues of "placelessness" or "end of space" are discussed, especially in connection with the Internet; they fail, however, to recognize the various connections between "cyberspace" and real space. For example, the technological infrastructure and its spatial distribution constitute structures of centre and periphery.
