摘要：This is a descriptive document, prepared to serve as a reference in the State of the Art Project Graduation to qualify for the Bachelor's degree in Library and Information Science, National University, whose topic is "The Education of the Public Library in Costa Rica ". The work is aimed at all types of readers, particularly specialists in librarianship and documentation in the areas of public libraries and school libraries. To achieve the same, we reviewed primary and secondary sources to meet the written or researched on the subject throughout Latin America, resulting in little or no information in this regard. Therefore, we conducted a pilot test, creating a typology that would detect this problem to make it known, and thus reconsider this fundamental role of public libraries, based on the guidelines of the IFLA / UNESCO.
