摘要：This article analyzes the organization of information focusing on the usage of classificatory foundations to build navigational taxonomies in the web environment. The methodology involves a descriptive research that has a literature review to formulate a reference about the organization of information and a comparative study between the classificatory foundations and its contribution to the elaboration of taxonomies which makes an empirical approach to build a two bookstore navigational taxonomy. The existing literature in the Information Science field points to the necessity of using classificatory foundations to build taxonomies. In practice, we saw that these resources are not used much.
