摘要：Este artigo procura analisar a construção da identidade da cidade de Novo Hamburgo (RS), através da definição de seu patrimônio. Diversas identidades definem, em sua construção, um grupo de signos que passam a ser seus repre¬sentantes e que caracterizam e lhes dão significado. As identidades que envolvem a definição de um determinado espaço geográfico - ou seja, as identidades nacionais, regionais e de cidades - são privilegiadas na definição de certas construções ou objetos como patrimônio, exercendo, sobre eles, uma legislação e políticas de conservação para preservar esses signos identitários. 其他摘要：This article aims to analyze the construction of the identity of the city of Novo Hamburgo (RS) through the definition of its patrimony. Different identities define, in its constructions, a group of signs that become its representatives and that characterize and give meaning to them. The identities that involve the definition of a specific geographic space, that is, the national regional and city identities are privileged in the definition of specific constructions or objects like patrimony and legislation and conservation policies are put in place to preserve the identity signs.
