摘要：Este artigo relata os resultados parciais de uma pesquisa mais ampla que procurou apreender a construção promovida por Petrônio para caracterizar os personagens livres pobres e suas estratégias de ação social. Para realizar esse exame, pareceram-nos insuficientes proposições analíticas fundadas nos conceitos de classe e estamento, o que nos levou a aprofundar a discussão que tem sido empreendida por autores anglófonos acerca das relações diretas de poder. Essa perspectiva, apesar de apresentar alguns problemas, propicia interessantes alternativas para a compreensão do fluido e muito complexo universo dos setores sociais subalternos romanos. É o resultado do exame crítico dessa alternativa que pretendemos sintetizar ao longo desse artigo.
其他摘要：This article reports the partial results of a broader research that tried to grasp the construction promoted by Petronius to characterize the poor free characters and their social action strategies. In order to carry out such an examination, the analytical propositions based on class and rank(Stand) were considered insufficient, and thus we deepened the discussion promoted by english-speaking authors about direct power relationships. This alternative, although not free from problems, offers interesting opportunities for the understanding of the changing and complex universe of Roman lower social sectors. It is the result of the critical examination of this alternative that we intend to synthesize throughout this paper.
