摘要：Este texto tem por objetivo examinar alguns dos princípios etiológicos da narrativa historiográfica de Tucídides, abordando o destaque conferido pelo historiador às pulsões instituintes da natureza humana (anthrópeia physis) como causa mais verdadeira da irrupção da guerra entre atenienses e espartanos. O texto analisa, ainda, as relações estabelecidas por Tucídides entre o aspecto impulsivo (orgé) e o aspecto reflexivo (gnómé) da natureza humana e suas implicações na definição do curso dos acontecimentos humanos. 其他摘要：In this paper, we seek to analyze some aetiological principles of Thucydides' historical narrative, focusing our attention on the emphasis assigned by the chronicler to impulses that constitute human nature (anthrópeia physis), the truest cause of the war among Athenians and Spartans. The paper also examines (1) Thucydides' portrayal of the relationship between the impulsive (orgé) and the reflective (gnómé) sides of human nature and (2) their consequences in the resolution of human destiny.
