摘要：Este artigo diz respeito à análise espacial do carnaval brasileiro contemporâneo, em especial as ruas e sambódromo. Como objeto de pesquisa é descrito um bloco de rua – Bloco Rastafári – e uma escola de samba – Embaixada Copa Lord – de Florianópolis, capital do estado de Santa Catarina, no Sul do Brasil. A pesquisa toma como referência a história do carnaval europeu; a análise antropológica de alguns espaços do carnaval brasileiro, e o aspecto formativo da cultura afro-brasileira na linguagem do evento carnavalesco. Enfim, esta pesquisa tenta compreender a evolução dos espaços de carnaval como suporte das relações entre seres humanos. Palavras-Chave: Espaço. Carnaval. Espetáculo. História Cultural. Cultura Afro-Brasileira. Abstract: This article discusses a spatial analysis of the Brazilian contemporary carnival, particularly in the streets and the “sambódromo”. As object of research a “bloco de rua” (street parade group) and a samba school are described and analized: Rastafari and Embaixada Copa Lord, both from the city of Florianópolis, capital of the Santa Catarina State, in the South of Brazil. The references to analize are the history of European carnival; the anthropological analysis of the strategic spaces of Brazilian carnival; and the formative aspects of the afro-Brazilian culture of the language in the carnival event.
