  • 摘要:Este artigo trata do problema da discriminação por idade ocorrida no mercado de trabalho, procurando mostrar como os estereótipos negativos associados à velhice, presentes nas culturas empresariais, influenciam na exclusão dos trabalhadores com mais idade. Os novos paradigmas produtivos de automação e acumulação flexível contribuem para a desvalorização dos mais velhos à medida que estão associados às idéias de inovação e velocidade. Portanto, a situação de exclusão vivida por esses trabalhadores possui uma determinante cultural bastante significativa e a sua superação depende de mudanças estruturais tanto no âmbito do mercado de trabalho como no da educação/formação. This article analyzes the problem of age discrimination in the labor market, and shows how negative stereotypes associated to old age found in business culture influence the exclusion of older workers. The new productive paradigms of automation and flexible accumulation contribute to the devaluation of the elderly to the degree that these paradigms are based on ideas of innovation and speed. Therefore, the exclusion suffered by these workers has quite a significant cultural determinant. Overcoming this prejudice will require structural changes both in the labor market and in education.
