摘要：A filosofia de Hume foi, durante longo tempo, vista como uma filosofia cética. A interpretação naturalista pretende, diante disso, atribuir novos sentidos ao aspecto afirmativo de sua filosofia, mostrando que Hume estava interessado em aplicar o método experimental ao estudo da natureza humana. Sua filosofia seria vista como uma construção em bases naturalísticas, de uma teoria do conhecimento e da natureza humana. Estudiosos como Kevin Meeker pretendem afirmar que as conclusões céticas presentes na obra de Hume tornam impossível uma interpretação naturalista prevalecendo, assim, a conclusão cética radical de que o conhecimento não é possível. Pretende-se, por meio de um exame dos textos de Hume, mostrar que o conceito de conhecimento de que Meeker parte, sua concepção de naturalismo, e mesmo sua concepção do papel do ceticismo na filosofia de Hume estão equivocados, e que a saída naturalista é a que faz mais sentido entre as interpretações possíveis desta filosofia. The naturalistic approach aims, about this point, provides new meanings to the affirmative aspect of his philosophy, by showing that Hume was interested in apply the experimental method in the study of human nature. Then, his philosophy could be seen as a construction - over naturalistic basis - of a theory of knowledge and human nature. Some critics like Kevin Meeker intent to claim that the skeptic conclusions, present in Hume`s works makes impossible such a naturalistic view, prevailing after all the skeptical conclusion of the impossibility of knowledge. This enquiry wants to show, by an analysis of Hume`s texts, that the conceptions of knowledge, naturalism and even this conception of skepticism, applied to Hume`s philosophy is mistaken, and that the naturalistic outcome makes more sense, among the possible interpretations of Hume`s philosophy.
