摘要:This article examines the mobbing phenomenon among university professors. The data belong to a broader, cross~ sectiona/ study on quality of life, Job satisfaction and health. The three objectives of the artic/e are: 1) to provide an estimate of the prevalence 01 mobbing. within a universíty. envlronmsnt, 2) to examine the pr6valence of mobbing in relaNon ta the age, gender, and faculty rank, and 3) identify the best predictars af mobbing. A tatal.of 252 full~time facully responded ta the survey, which corresponds to a 61.6% participation rate .. About 23% of the professors reported having.experienced mobbing. Mobb;ng preva/ence rates did not differ signiñcantly across ages, gsnders, or academic ranks. Usinglogis.tic regression methods, we found that low Job autonomy and low interaction-satisfaction with supervisors were the best predictors ofmobbing incidence •. These two predictors explaíned about 37% of t/lB mobbing variance. . . The flndings justify the need lor longitudinal investigations to assess cause-effect relationship within the Job context 01 university prolessors.
