摘要:In this article, the different meanings that define the category sustainability are resumed, questioning it before the scenery of disparity and social exclusion that exists in Brazil and its effects on the possibility of rearrangenment of the social relations in the planet. Afterwards, analytical appreciations are made concerning the dominant actions in the Environmental Education and its interfaces with Communication, revealing its limits when education and communication are taken as ways of autonomous activity of the individuals and as social actions inseparable from the process of society transformation. Concurrently to this analysis, theoretical elements are pointed out to help understanding what is an Environmental Education that takes under consideration cultural peculiarities, that dialogues with lower class social groups and that contributes to revert the scenery of material expropriation and the way nature is objectified.
