摘要：The author of this article, Shri Rajendra Singh, who is an eminent social worker and Magsaysay award winner, argues against the increasing commercialization of our natural resources especially water. He advocates the digging of ponds, which will help in eliminating our dependence on bottled drinking water. As the author points out, the process of building a pond unites the community, making them come together in the same platform. The water, which is stored in the pond, helps in checking soil-erosion. Ponds provide water not only to human beings, i.e., poorest of the poor, but also to the animals. It also recharges the emptied earth and recharges the wells. All these leads the society to become self-sufficient with regards to water. Through creation of ponds, we can stop the marketing of bottled water, which leads to the exploitation of the common man. When water pots at every place such as Bus stand and Railway stations is made available, there will be no need to buy bottled water. Thus the crass commercialization of this precious natural resource, water, will come to an end. A.A
