摘要:Summary In the present study, the wave scattering due to very large floating structure (VLFS) is analysed considering the thick plate theory in shallow water depth. The effect of free-free boundary condition associated in the analysis of the floating thick plate in shallow water is analysed. The numerical computation is performed to analyse the wave reflection, wave transmission and plate deflection due to the action of incident wave. Further, the results are compared between thick plate theory and Kirchhoff's plate theory. The study reveals an interesting aspect of considering rotary inertia and transverse shear deformation in the analysis of floating elastic thick plate. The present study provides an understanding on design and analysis of VLFS based on thick plate theory in shallow water depth.
