摘要:T.H. Marshall's weel-known theses on the historical process of affirmation of citizenship have led to major discussions and studies, yelding results that are of significance to any reflection on the subject. One of these has been the diversification of views on citizenship following different paths in countries with diferent cultural traditions. The article attempts to incorporate these discussions into the analysis of citizenship in nineteenth-century Brazil.
