摘要:The paper examines similarities and differences between Argentina, Brazil and Peru concerning political instability, discredit of Congress and Justice and hyper-inflation. These aspects have pushed the people in the three countries to consider the relative concentration of power in the hands of their presidents, and the plans of these presidents to stand for reelection, as a modest price to pay for political, economic and financial stability. The author adopts the concept of imperial presidentialism as an useful instrument to understand the stabilization programs of Menem, Fernando Henrique Cardoso and Fujimori.
