摘要：Most of the memories or archives we deal with refer to something that has been important in the past. What makes them relevant is thus something external and previous to the documents: the history that has been recorded. This paper will discuss the deliberate drive to create personal archives, i.e. to collect and keep things or documents so that they become memory. This drive is heir to the Ancien Regime endeavor to assure the glory of aristocracy and royalty. Howerver, in a world where the basic values of theses classes have disappeared, it is difficult to build a glory in a deliberate way. The frontier between epic and ordinary, great poetry and common language has vanished. Today, the intentional construction of a memory of self will often consist of entreasuring ordinary things and documents. And the transformation of an everyday element, though favored by multiplication, into something endowed with the dignity of memory remains a difficult process.
