摘要:This article focuses on the Brazilian Literary Academy as a producer of national heroes. Since its foundation, in 1897, through the beginning of the 1920s, the institution offered to its members, by means of several events, a greater social visibility inside the elite of Rio and of the whole country. Just as political personalities were widely recognized, academics also wanted to have their names and work glorified by the nation.
