摘要:The artcle intends to analyze the life of a slave grand grandson named Antônio Nascimento Fernandes (Toninho). Born in the same plantation where his ancestors worked as slaves when slavery was abolished in Brazil in 1888, Toninho has a life story that is part of the history of transformation of slaves¿ descendants living in the Fazenda São José da Serra into owners of a part of the land, known as Comunidade no Quilombo São José da Serra. Working with oral history, the article shows how Toninho has granted a link between the political claims of black movements and the rural traditions of slaves¿ descendants.
