摘要:The author focuses on Albert Einstein's 1925 trip to Argentina and Brazil. His main concern in the unique meaning of each visit, based on (a) philosophical, intellectual, and scientific traditions; (b) the differences of prevailing positivism and its reactions; (c) the political and cultural contexts. The author argues that although Einstein's visit to Argentina was important from a philosophical and scientific point of view, it had its main role in the dynamics of social and political problems. His visit to Argentina was of considerable import for that nation's Jewish community. In Brazil, on the other hand, Einstein's presence made its repercussions felt in the polemic between advocates and opponents of Comte's theory. His visit had its greatest impact, however, on the dynamics of Brazil's scientific community.
