摘要:The aim of this paper is to present a review on violent crime studies and its relation to socioeconomic inequality. First we present explanations offered by experts on the possible causes of violent crime on the international scene followed by explanations made by Brazilian experts on the possible causes of the process of climbing rates of violence, from the 1970s, when came the first research in the field of social sciences in the country. Finally, it presents current studies on the spatial sharing of violent crime in relation to socioeconomic inequalities, highlighting the findings of research.
