摘要:The study provides a baseline information on the functional health transition patterns of older people and computes for the Active Life Expectancy (ALE) using a multistate life table method. Findings on ALE demonstrate that females and urban residents live longer and have a greater proportion of their remaining life in active state compared to their counterparts. Health transition analysis indicates a significant proportion experiencing recovery. Age, sex, place of residence and health status/behavior indicators (self-assessed health, drinking and exercise) display a significant influence on future health and mortality trajectories although surprisingly, education did not show any significant effect.
