摘要：Avaliação educacional é questão relevante, principalmente se considerado o complexo cenário da educação superior, envolvendo as posições dos docentes, da instituição e dos alunos. É neste contexto que a prova aparece como elemento que requer atenção. Este artigo permite analisar relações entre variáveis ligadas às provas formais. Dois conjuntos de dados foram estudados (Conjunto 1 e Conjunto 2), visando reunir evidências sobre associações entre duas variáveis de avaliação no âmbito da educação superior em negócios: tempo de prova e desempenho do aluno. A investigação foi conduzida em disciplina da área de informática e sistemas, com alunos de graduação em Ciências Contábeis da FEA/USP (Brasil), em 2003. Após a coleta primária de dados, foram conduzidos testes estatísticos preliminares visando à seleção dos procedimentos estatísticos mais apropriados às características das amostras. Os resultados mostram que não há diferenças significativas no tempo de realização das provas entre as amostras estudadas. Apenas uma diferença significativa entre as médias (notas) foi observada (Conjunto 2). Somente a prova 2 do Conjunto 2 apresentou correlação significativa entre tempo e performance. Análises subseqüentes identificaram que a razão para a diferença significativa e a correlação significativa registrada na prova 2 deveu-se a uma única questão ( outlier ). Assim, os resultados obtidos, no contexto metodológico desta pesquisa, apresentam-se como evidências de que não há relação sustentável entre tempo de realização de prova e performance de alunos. Esta pesquisa vem assim contribuir com a discussão sobre avaliação em educação superior, especificamente com base em instrumentos objetivos. Sugestões para novas pesquisas visando fortalecer o processo de ensino e aprendizagem são apresentadas. Palavras-chave: avaliação, performance, tempo de realização de prova, contabilidade.
其他摘要：Assessment is a relevant topic in education, mainly if one takes into account the complexity of the higher education scenario, involving the roles played by the faculty, the institution and the students. In this context, objective testing is a component that demands attention. This paper analyzes relations between variables related to formal tests. Two data sets were examined (data set 1 and 2), aiming at gathering evidence about associations between two assessment variables in business schools: test-taking time and student performance. The investigation was carried out in a course of the area of information technology and systems with undergraduate accounting students of the University of São Paulo (Brazil) during 2003. After the primary data collection, a set of preliminary statistical tests was applied to select the statistical procedures to the samples’ characteristics. Findings show no significant differences in the testtaking time across the samples examined. Only one significant difference in the average performance (grade) was observed (data set 2). The instrument 2 of the data set 2 was the only registraone that presented a significant correlation between time and performance. Subsequent analyses found that the reason for the significant difference and the significant correlation registered by instrument 2 was due to one single question (outlier). Therefore, the findings, in the methodological context of this study, show no sustainable relation between test-taking time student performance. Thus, this study contributes to the discussion on assessment in higher education, mainly based on objective testing instruments. Suggestions for further studies designed to strengthen the teaching and learning process are presented.
