摘要：The paper contrasts the two forms in which the psychiatrist and writer Luis Martin-Santos considered the meaning of illness: the psychiatric and the literary one. The psychiatric approach was a very orthodox one within the phenomenological and existencialist trends, that were prevailing in Spanish psychiatry at that time. Nevertheless, the literary approach was, to a large extent, a bitter and sarcastic criticism of that procedure of considering illness.
