摘要：This article presents the previously unpublished results of the archaeological excavations carried out between 2007 and 2008 in the forum of the capital of Igaeditani . Among the novelties found during the two excavation campaigns we can highlight the date of the forum’s construction (with verified Augustan chronology based for the first time on the stratigraphic record and different from what has lately been put forward) or the presence of a singular building with dividing walls built of earth, which was destroyed during the building of the forum . Also based on these findings from the excavations we discuss the possibility of its occupation during the Iron Age as well as the date of the founding of the Roman city, endeavouring to relate the moment when the forum was built to the process of political and juridical promotion of this civitas in the north inland part of Lusitania.
