摘要：This work aims to provide a multifocal and progressive view of the development of pottery making in the city of León and its outskirts during the Middle Ages. The objective is to analyze the characteristics of the production over the period in question, studying the changes and the survivals. To this end we are aided by a threefold supply of information: first, the documentary references, not only from medieval times but also the beginning of the Modern Age. Second, the information coming from the recent archaeological work carried out at various sites in the city and its immediate surroundings. And finally, especially for the analysis of technological evolution, the data provided by the different macroand microscopic analyses performed on a series of ceramic vessels unearthed at various archaeological contexts with clarifi catory stratigraphic sequences.
