摘要：This article exposes the distinctive characteristics of the foreign immigration in the Canary Islands. The analysis of a series of demographic data remarks several singularities, such as the earlier net positive migration flows, the bigger submission of the immigration process to the world economy, the differentiated origins, the great dimension of the irregularity process, the biodemographic consequences that determine these processes and reinforce traditional guidelines, the higher job competition between immigrants and native-born population and a specific normative framework that can lead to a differentiate treatment of immigration in the future.
