摘要:An emotional crisis is an event of crucial importance in the life of any person. The urgency to deal with emergency situations and emotional crisis was formulated considering the principles of the learning theory, psychoanalytical concepts, and specific short-term psychotherapy models. It derives from the adaptive theory, defined as a set of responses that a live organism emits, in various moments, to situations that modify it, allowing therefore the maintenance of a life compatible organization. Operationalized short-term psychotherapy in crisis situations was employed in the treatment of a young lady, experiencing a loss expectation crisis, who sought short-term therapeutic help. At the end of the adaptive evaluation, she was able to acknowledge her unconscious fear of being rejected for not having a second child. However, she came to the conclusion that she would like to be able to openly tell her family she only wanted one child and was happy with this situation. She decided she was no longer adopting a baby.
