摘要：Health professionals playing the role of caretakers have the opportunity to deal with the problem of violence among the elderly in many different institutions, especially considering the people who bring them to the institution. Is that the dynamics of this matter? Taking into consideration that these people may be the first individuals in contact with possible victims, the health professionals concerns towards this kind of violence seem to be justifiable. The existence of multi-health-professional teams does not guarantee that these professionals will feel well prepared to aboard the matter, so there remains the reflection on how to promote the communication concerning violence as an action to fight it. The knowledge over a set of social representations of the health professionals concerning violence among the elderly may provide singular information to the professional improvement as well as to the improvement of the services provided by community and health services. This may reflect on the attitudes that may motivate or not the verbal expression of violence.
